Eloy Romero-Miranda’s friend says that Eloy is the hardest worker he has ever met. Our Family Support Manager Melissa Orren Cordoba says she had to fetch Eloy and Victoria Fernandez-Fernandez from a Habitat job site to accept, “the passing of the hammer,” our ceremonial signal that it was time to begin construction on their home.
Family and friends gathered on Saturday on the front porch of 1204 Frontera Lane to honor that hard work as we dedicated the Romero-Fernandez family home. Eloy and Victoria were joined at the celebration by their two sons, Eliev, 16, and Eldgar, eight.
Hard-working accurately describes this family. They earned 200 hours of sweat equity in just four months to quickly qualify for their own lot.
I took a few pictures at the dedication, which you can see below. I was also able to get some great audio from the dedication, including the invocation, presentation of the family and words from the family. The links follow.
We want to say a special thank you to the David Trimble memorial gift, which made construction of this house possible.
Again, congratulations Eloy, Victoria, Eliev and Eldgar!
